Practicing meditation can be a lot like practicing playing the piano. We learn the basics, and gradually improve our ability to play and enjoy the music. However, it's always useful to go back and practice the basic scales again, and see if there's anything that we could learn a little more deeply. If you have any interest in exploring the basics again, to see if there is a way to practice that might suit you better, or relearn some of the basics of the Buddhist teachings again, such as the Four Noble Truths, please join us for this overview of the basic meditation practices and Buddhist teachings. Everyone is welcome! Join Kim for Beginners/Beginner's Mind Meditation a 6-week series beginning Sunday, April 5, 10am.

Have you ever wondered if there is something more to practice that following your breath? Have you ever wondered what the Buddha recommended about how we can take practice into our lives? If so, you may want to check out some of his most complete teachings on both how to practice, and how we can live in a way that brings us more ease. In The Four Noble Truths, we will talk about practical aspects of the teachings that you can use in your life, as well as an overview of the teachings. I personally have found his teachings on skillful effort to be very helpful. Nice to know ways to get out of being stuck in negativity! Join me for this 5-week course beginning Tuesday, February 25, 7:00pm. By Kim Weeber
Many of us suffer with perfectionism, and we can bring that into our spiritual practice, assuming that we can use meditation to in some way become more perfect. Of course, we will be disappointed over and over again, as we fail to meet our standards. We can also hold our teachers to some standard of perfection, and be supremely disappointed when they fail us. How can we hold spiritual practice as skillful practice? A way to practice inclining more toward what is skillful and leads to happiness, while still acknowledging our human imperfections. Can we practice forgiveness and compassion as we and other around us make mistakes? This talk has been rescheduled for Wednesday, February 19, 7pm. Let's explore this together! |
