By Rebecca Bradshaw As the next decade begins, we are coming into a world that is manifesting huge amounts of greed, hatred, and delusion. We are going to need help navigating this coming year and beyond; we are going to need a strong and resilient heart. During a six month series of talks, we will explore the Buddha’s practices to develop this heart. Each month we will look at beautiful mind/heart states that the Buddha encourages us to nurture, including the four divine abodes (Brahmaviharas), forgiveness and gratitude.
This month we will begin with the first Brahmavihara, the basic friendliness of heart and mind, also called metta. How can we develop and strengthen our friendly heart of unconditional and universal goodwill? How can we express metta in our lives? Through exploring metta and these other mind/heart qualities, we will support our hearts to manifest strength, gentleness, and resilience, a perfect recipe for challenging times and our best protection for living in a world in chaotic freefall. Join Rebecca for an open sitting and Dharma Talk on Wednesday, January 8, 7pm
